Troy AhYo Renshi flew up from Charleston, SC to visit John Dumond Shihan at SBKS Fort Kent, ME. He had the honor of assisting Shihan Dumond. The focus of the training was accuracy of blocks and strikes, executing the front leg sweep from the fighting stance, Naihanchi – Ichidan kata, body shifting moves; and simultaneous block / strikes. Many questions were answered.
The second day of training focused on grab-arts, maintaining a consistent head height during technique and kata, looking at your opponent’s eyes, with a calmness during technique and kumite. Shihan Dumond and Renshi AhYo also instructed on knowledge base and growth as a black belt to Sensei Stanley.
During Troy’s stay, Mr. Dumond showed him some of the historical areas of Ft. Kent and crossed the border into Canada to enjoy some of the night life of the City of Edmundson. Troy is looking forward to his next visit to the beautiful area and thanks Shihan Dumond for sharing his school and knowledge.
